Sections: Indian Law

The purposes of the Indian Law Section are to advance the understanding, study, adoption, application, interpretation, and improvement of the federal laws, tribal laws and, to the extent applicable, state laws, rules, and regulations which pertain to Indians, to Indian tribes, or to Indian country, and to their administration and enforcement; to understand and improve the relationships of these bodies of law and judicial and administrative systems, and to encourage and support mutual respect for, and understanding of, the cultures, values, customs, and heritages which underlie them. Furthermore, the Section will encourage members of the Nebraska State Bar Association (“Association”), both Indian and non-Indian, with respect to the application of laws and legal procedures of particular relevance to the Indian communities and governments thereof.
